Samsung Galaxy S9 Will Reportedly Sport 3,200 mAh Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is speculated
to have a 3,200 mAh battery, which suggests that the manufacturer might
have solved its battery issues for good.
As a mobile phone manufacturer, one of the biggest challenges would
presumably be finding the right balance between battery life and a slim
form factor. The trend of smartphones getting bigger screens often
translates to an increased demand for battery life.
Manufacturing Expenses And Component Costs
Another alternative would be to use more energy-efficient displays
like OLED and Super AMOLED. However, better technology usually comes at a
higher cost that could increase the unit's suggested retail price in
the end.
Apple's recently released iPhone X and its steep price tag have
apparently prompted some consumers to consider the South Korean brand.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 could be in a good position to attract even more
buyers if the features and price are considerably better than the
competition.
Bigger Capacity And Faster Charging
News regarding the latest flagship model's battery capacity
reportedly came from someone most likely connected with its production
in China.
Sam Mobile points out
the supposedly leaked dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S9 indicate that
the smartphone is somewhat thicker than its predecessor. It supports
the recently leaked details regarding a 3,200 mAh battery planned for
the new model.
Along with the information about its battery capacity, the same
source also confirmed that Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology is
along for the ride as well.
Reduced Bezels Suggest A Bigger Display
According to Tencent Digital News via DigitechQQ, the Samsung Galaxy S9 sports even
smaller top and bottom bezels compared to the previous models. The
reduction of the borders would allow engineers to increase the display
size and retain the same body size.
A bigger screen generally requires more power. Thus, the rumored increase to 3,200 mAh supports this particular configuration.
New Processor From Qualcomm
The rumors detailed above already list several improvements in
store for the Samsung Galaxy S9. Meanwhile, another report hints that
the flagship unit will be the first mobile phone to come equipped with
the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.
However, another top-tier handset maker is also rumored to be in talks with Qualcomm to take the opportunity away
from Samsung. LG is speculated to release the G7 ahead of their rival
to possibly earn the distinction of being the first smartphone with the
Snapdragon 845 on board.
If all of the speculation about its 3,200 mAh battery, faster
charging times, smaller bezels, increased display size, and powerful
processor are true, it could position the Samsung Galaxy S9 as one of
the best flagship models due to release next year.
