Phone About To Die? Can Be Used When Battery Is At Five Percent
Let's face it, we've all been there. That moment when your smartphone's battery is about to die and there's nothing to do about it but struggle to find the nearest outlet.
Now there's a new app that allows users to access their smartphone when their battery is at less than five percent.
Called Die With Me, the chatroom app for iOS and Android helps smartphone owners when facing that moment of despair.
When Your Phone Dies Come Up With Ideas On The Next Big App
What inspired the launch of Die With Me app? Developers Dries Depoorter and David Surprenant said they were in an unfamiliar neighborhood when their phone's battery was about to die. Like most people, their first reaction was to stress out. However, Depoorter and Surprenant started to come up with ideas for developing an app that can allow access even when the battery is low.
The biggest challenge they ran into when he came up with Die With Me app? Trying to figure out how to make the idea work. And that's when the idea of transforming the app into a public chatroom hit.
This is where users can express how they're feeling about the situation with other people who are going through the same thing.
"It's a feeling that our generation understands. The feeling of being dependent on technology," said Depoorter.
Die With Me Users Can Chat Anonymously In A Public Chatroom
Similar to old school AOL's chatrooms, the Die With Me app allows users to be anonymous while chatting with other users in the room. Though, users shouldn't expect there to be a lot of people chatting at once. Depoorter mentioned the chatroom usually sees about half a dozen people chatting in a session. So the public chatroom never gets boring.
What do users chat about while in the public chatroom? Users talk about everything from the type of music they listen to, where they are from, and share other stories about when their phone died.
Conversations From The Chatroom Will Be Turned Into A Book
To date, Depoorter said the app has logged almost half a million messages from smartphone owners. What does Deppoorter plan to do with all of the recorded messages? He plans to release a book sharing some of the best conversations. Perhaps, this book will be called Die With Me When Your Smartphone Dies.
